Our Story

When I started my journey as a medical student, I was handed a uniform: "The Scrubs." Like many of you, I bought several pairs and wore them daily. But during my surgical rotations and long nights in the Emergency Room, I realized a painful truth—my uniforms were stiff, unforgiving, and felt more like cardboard than clothing. Yet, like a true student, I kept them. (they’re still sitting in my cabinet today as a reminder!)

As I moved into my surgical residency, my life became a blur of wound dressings, outpatient procedures, and sprinting between the OR and the inpatient wards. Between typing procedure notes and grabbing coffee for my seniors (let’s be honest, we’ve all been there), I was doing it all in a single pair of scrubs that just couldn't keep up.

But here’s the thing: I’m not exactly a "small stature" guy. I’ve had broad shoulders since I was a teenager, and these stiff, non-flexible scrubs were literally tearing into my armpits every time I reached for a dressing. I looked around the wards and realized we were all either being strangled by our clothes or wearing these massive, cloaky things that looked like oversized Halloween costumes from Amazon. It was "Hospital Halloween" every single day, and frankly? I was over it.

Before I could design the solution, I hit a wall. Burned out from overshifts and endless studying, I flew to Southern Italy to rediscover the "art of doing nothing." While riding a noisy scooter along the Amalfi Coast, I met a man whose passion was cacti. Blue ones, green ones, tall ones—he treated them like royalty. He told me the cactus is the ultimate symbol of resilience. They don’t ask for much, they don’t demand constant attention, and they can grow in the toughest soil on earth.

It clicked. That’s us. Doctors, nurses, the whole medical crew—we’re the cacti of the world. we work the hardest shifts, survive on zero sleep, and usually, all we need is a patient’s smile (or a really good espresso) to keep us going. We’re good people. We deserve a uniform that actually breathes.

I returned from Italy with a mission, but the real work began in the design studios of Brooklyn. I spent weeks obsessing over technical silhouettes and high-performance textiles—the kind of gear elite athletes use to maintain peak performance. My goal was to source a material that met the rigorous demands of a 24-hour shift. I visited high-end shops in Brooklyn to study and handpicked a fabric that changed everything. Cactus Scrubs are designed with:

The Kinetic Stretch: It’s flexible without needing a thousand adjectives to describe it. It just moves with you.

Thermoregulation: We used whitewood fibers to make sure you aren't sweating through your rounds.

The Soul: Since cactuses turn CO2 into oxygen, our scrubs use recycled materials. Carbon footprint matters.

I built Cactus Scrubs because we deserve more than a uniform. We’re resilient, we’re efficient, and it’s time we had gear that reflects the professionalism of the work we actually do.

If you have a story from the wards or a specific frustration with your current kit, get in touch. I’m always looking for ways to push the 'Cactus' further.

To better shifts and sharper rounds,
